Dementia Activity boxes – Now on the wards!

Having a memory/activity box on each ward means that patients will have access to items which will help engage them in activities which are therapeutic or mentally stimulating.

The boxes are equipped with items such as flash cards with old familiar famous faces, gardening magazines and games such as dominoes, things that will encourage conversation and interaction and are therapeutically beneficial for their wellbeing.

We joined Jill Garratt as she was handing out the activity boxes to the wards around the hospital. Here are just a few of the wards who received a box!

The boxes were extremely well received by the staff on the ward who were very keen to start using them with their patients!

Such a fantastic thing to provide to provide these for the wards.  A special thanks to Cameron Sheikh who fundraised and ran the Milton Keynes marathon last year to raise money towards these activity boxes.  You can read Cameron’s fundraising story here.
