Please help us to reach the target

We would like your help in reaching the target of £350,000 to develop and transform an area on Talbot Butler ward to create a purpose built facility for an Emergency Assessment Bay (EAB).

This will be a separate area on the ward with dedicated spaces for triage, assessment and examinations in an environment that is open and spacious, offering patients 24 / 7 specialist assessment.

Oncology and Haematology patients are often ill between their treatment cycles and require emergency support and review, sometimes immediately. The urgent nature of these complications means that patients are unable to wait for outpatient appointments.

EAB design layout
EAB design

The support provided to patients at present is to attend the EAB in the Oncology outpatient department, during the hours of 9am-5pm Monday to Friday.  Or outside of these times, and when capacity has been reached in the current EAB, the patients are advised to visit A&E.

You can help

This new EAB will “…improve communication for patients requiring admission and could potentially reduce the number of patients requiring A&E attendance…patient experience will be significantly improved.”
