December 2018 flew by so quickly and Santa is now hibernating, or perhaps he’s chasing the Northern Lights on a well-earned leisure break.
Thanks to your incredible kindness and generosity, the charity team were yet again this year able to make sure EVERY patient in our hospitals on Christmas Day received a Christmas present.
We are hugely grateful to the kind people of Northampton, and to the generous community groups and local companies who donated so many items. You helped to make Christmas Day 2018 in hospital a little bit better for so many people!
People can feel lonely in hospital at Christmas. Some elderly patients may not have family and so not only would they not receive visitors but gifts can be few and far between. All thanks to your fantastic response to our request for donations we were able to put a number of items into each gift bag given out on Christmas Day.
“…the patient’s on Brampton really enjoyed receiving the gifts at Christmas. Some were really quite emotional that they were receiving presents from people they didn’t know but that had thought about them being in hospital over Christmas…”
“…they also loved the letters they received from the school children; one gentleman was brought to tears by the kind words whilst reading his letter.”
Jane Drew, Activities Coordinator – Brampton
As well as the amazing gift items donated, we had support from two different year groups at Bridgewater Primary School again this year. Year 3 and Year 5 pupils wrote some truly heart-warming and lovely letters to the elderly patients who would be in hospital and receiving presents on Christmas Day.
You really made such a huge difference to them by doing this. Reading the letters reminded them they are not forgotten about. You bought huge warm smiles to their faces with your kind and thoughtful words.
Further mentions must go to staff and pupils at St Gregory’s Catholic Primary School for your donations; thanks to Aaron Hall, Ruth Williams, Kayleigh, Reece, Maddie & Sarah Howard for choosing us as one of the beneficiaries of your ‘Our 24 Special Advent Days’ again this year too.
In addition to the deluge of donations from the wonderful local people of Northampton, we are also grateful to the many local groups and companies who got behind the appeal. We are sorry we cannot name you all here but our heartfelt thanks do extend to each and every one of you!
Corrina Quarterman coordinated some fundraising with Northampton Musical Theatre Company, raising more than £400. This included a collection at Northampton Train Station where the choir sang Christmas carols. Corrina and her mum saved the day by then going shopping to provide us with so many much-needed and brilliant items for our elderly male patients. Thank you!!
Thanks to Sue Higgins at Barclaycard who coordinated a huge gift donation project securing a fantastic 300 presents from all the wonderful and thoughtful people in her teams.
Thanks to Claire & Kelly of The Chocolate Elf, Jones Wholesalers for the 800 gift bags donated by International Greetings and Partisan, Richmond Village, Sawtry Infant School, Impact Recruitment, BHIB Insurance, Tumble Tots, Euro Foods, Aptean, Coventry Building Society, Vintage Retreat, EBC Brakes, Silverstone Methodist Church, Northampton Risk Management Solutions…the list goes on and we cannot forget all the wonderful members of staff and teams throughout the hospitals who donated.
We thank you ALL for making Christmas Day 2018 special for patients in hospital and our community hospitals.
Without YOU, it really could not happen!
Thank you all so much for showing the Christmas spirit of kindness!! Wishing all of you, our wonderful supporters, a Happy New Year!
